Lee Christian School
Lee Christian School presents...
Class of 2020
Marissa Lee has been a student at LCS for the past 5 years. During her time at Lee Christian, she has been a staple on our Varsity Basketball and Soccer teams. She is also a member of the Key Club, National Beta Club, and a member of the National Art Honors Society. Her favorite memory at Lee Christian was beating Neuse Christian Academy by 1 point in overtime this past season and DNOW 2019. After graduation Marrisa plans to attend Leeward Community College in Hawaii, for her Associates, and then she plans on transferring to Olivet Nazarene University to major in Elementary Education with a focus in Special Education. If she could leave any lasting advice to the underclassmen it would be, “Make sure you have a relationship with Jesus and make sure you root your identity in Him. Every decision you need to make - turn to Him”. Marissa’s life verse comes from Romans 8:1-2 which says, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” This verse gives her hope that through Christ there is freedom and because of the sacrifice He gave for her she doesn’t have to live her life in shame or guilt.
Daniel Desjarlais has been attending Lee Christian School for the past 13 years. Daniel has been a vital teammate on our Varsity Soccer, Golf, and Basketball teams. He is also a member of the National Beta Club and the International Key Club. Daniel’s favorite memory at LCS was beating Woodlawn in the Final Four to advance the State Championship, for soccer. After graduation, Daniels will be attending High Point University to major in Criminal Justice. Virtual Learning has been nice because he enjoys the shorter days but he would rather be at school with his friends. If Daniel could leave any advice for the underclassmen it would be, “Take each day one day at a time and enjoy it as best you can”. Daniel’s life verse comes from John 15;13, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” He loves this verse because it reminds him of what Jesus did for us while we were still sinners and it also demonstrates true love.
Jada Riley has attended Lee Christian School for the past 3 years. During her time here at Lee Christian, she participated in Varsity Cheerleading, Soccer, and Softball. After graduation, she will be attending Piedmont International University and plans on majoring in Business. If she could leave any lasting advice for the underclassmen it would be to stay on top of their work and take advantage of all the help offered by the staff. They really do care about you. Adjusting to virtual learning has been very rewarding for her. She has liked the comfort of doing this at her pace and developing the self-discipline to stay on top of her assignments. Jada’s life verse comes from 1 Peter 4:8, “Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins.” It speaks to her because she is a very sensitive person and believes love is the best thing you can give other people. So why not show them the love Christ has for you.
Gabe Lenz has been attending Lee Christian for the past 11 years. During his years at Lee Christian, he has been a member of the Varsity Golf and Cross Country teams. After graduation, he will be attending CCCC and transferring to UNC-CH to major in Biology. If he could leave any advice for the underclassmen it would be “Don’t be too caught up in what everyone thinks - at the end of the day have fun and be true to yourself”. Virtual Learning hasn’t really affected him academically - he still is doing the same amount of learning as when he was actually at school but he misses his friends a lot. His life verse comes from Psalm 73:26, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” This verse speaks to his personal struggles and his source of strength - which is God, and God alone.
KJ McFadden has been attending Lee Christian for five years. While here she has been a member of our Cheer, Soccer, and Volleyball teams. KJ has been a member of the National Beta Club, National Art Honors Society, and Key Club. After graduation KJ plans to attend UNC-W, where she plans to major in Elementary Educations. Her favorite memories have been the Varsity Cheer lock-in of 2019 and DNOW. While KJ hasn’t minded virtual learning she would rather be at school. She likes to learn hands-on and see her teachers and friends, face to face. If she could leave any advice to underclassmen it would be, “Don’t give up. Don’t let other people’s opinions define who you are. Be true to yourself”. One of her favorite scriptures comes from Psalm 51:17 which says, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” She feels this verse is talking about how she can come to God broken and only He can fix her. She finds comfort in that she doesn’t have to do all the work herself.
Dakota Johnson has been attending Lee Christian for 11 years. He has been a standout on our Varsity Soccer and Basketball teams. He is also a member of the National Beta Club. Upon graduation, Dakota plans to attend High Point University to major in Sports Management. He is also signed to play hockey as a Panther, for HPU. His favorite memory at Lee Christian was winning the soccer conference championship in his sophomore year. He hasn’t minded Virtual School because we are still learning and moving forward with each class but he really misses seeing his friends. If he could give any advice to the underclassmen, it would be, “Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.” Dakota’s favorite verse comes from Psalm 56:3 which says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you”, because it’s comforting and it’s applicable in all situations he faces.
